Day five has proved to be a most eventful one. After a light breakfast, we piled in the van and made our way up the mountain to the clinic at Tom Gateau. At our gathering circle we learned there had been a motorcycle accident on the crowded winding road on market day, and just a little ways from the clinic there was an injured man who had been hit by the motorcycle. After gathering more information, three of our team members along with an interpreter went to gather the accident victim and take him to the clinic. As we approached the gentleman, he was being loaded into a Tap-Tap and we agreed he could be taken to the clinic. He had multiple abrasions on his body, no broken bones, but had lost a number of teeth. Dr. Steve, Rose, and Susan began to immediately provide excellent medical care, including leaning and suturing some of the more serious wounds. Eventually, a Tap-Tap was called for and he was transported to the St, Croix hospital ack in Leogane, accompanied by Steve and Rose. While much attention was given to this significant issue, the rest of the team managed to see 49 other Haitian patients before noon. We then made our way to the hospital to retrieve our two team members. After some time to relax, we enjoyed a delicious. And then more drama began to unfold. The guest house manager who is 33 weeks pregnant began to experience some difficulty, and our medical team members sprang into action. In a short time two on-gym docs were here and proceeded to make the call that a c-section was in order. She was whisked away and at this writing we are waiting and praying for good news. We hope those who read this will be joining us in prayer for these two individuals. Look for updates tomorrow.
