Grimsley High School Mentoring

As part of our Outreach focus on Children in Poverty, Westminster has partnered with Grimsley High School to provide mentors for their Success 101 program.  For the 2016-17 school year, Westminster has 15 adults serving as mentors for this innovative program.  We would like to expand it for the 2017-18 school year.  Mentors and students are paired based on the mentor’s availability during school hours and meet weekly for one hour at Grimsley HS.  Grimsley reports that Success 101 students paired with mentors have increased their attendance and grades and have reduced incidences of negative behavior.  The one-on-one relationship that develops between the student and mentor makes a profound difference in the student’s life.
