Adult education
Generally in September new studies are launched; however, some you can join at any time throughout the year. Come and explore the opportunities from short-term study to more in-depth study, small groups to Sunday school classes, women's and men's Bible Studies and even online studies.
Adult Study Feature: Mickey Efird DVD study of Romans
The Cornerstone class will be doing a 10-week study of the Apostle Paul's letter to the Romans from July through September 5. Each class will feature commentary by well-known Bible scholar Mickey Efird, followed by class discussion. Dr. Efird is a professor at Duke University's School of Divinity. The Cornerstone class meets on Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:30 in the Chapel and offers short- to medium-length studies.
Adult Sunday School Morning Classes
The adult Sunday School classes are open to all adults in the church. Programs are offered at different times on Sunday morning and locations to complement the various worship service schedules.You can visit several of the classes to learn which one speaks to you. We also offer men and women-only classes during the week and in the evenings.

Cornerstone Class - 9:30 in the Chapel This class explores various topics through short-term studies. A 10 week Dr. Mickey Efird DVD study on The Book of Romans will run July 4-Sept 5.Class coordinator is Wilson Davis.
Covenant Class – 9:30 in Room 200 This class welcomes adults of all ages to join with a diverse group of people who seek to grow in faith through Christian fellowship, Bible study, and consideration of faith issues. The lesson format is discussion-based with a facilitator. Class coordinator is Jennie Betton .
Gateway Class – 9:30 in Room 203 This class uses the Present Word curriculum to connect Bible study with contemporary faith issues for class discussion. A rotation of teachers shares the leadership on a monthly basis. Adults of all ages are invited to participate. Class coordinator is Mary Eagle.
Fellowship Class – 9:30 in Room 201 This class explores a wide range of topics related to Christian faith in a roundtable discussion format. Class members share in leading the various studies. Adults of all ages are invited to share in this supportive fellowship. Class coordinator is Susan Wardlaw.
The following Sunday School classes will resume meeting in September:
Carpe Diem Class – 11:00 in Room 204 This class seeks to mix Christian discipleship and fellowship in a nurturing environment. A video-based curriculum is used to explore the Bible, contemporary faith issues, and the spiritual life. Adults of all ages are invited to participate. Class coordinator is Mike Maynard.
Faithbuilders Class – 11:00 in Room 201 This class emphasizes building stronger relationships with God through Bible study and fellowship. Learning occurs through discussion of topics such as biblical characters and their stories, family and contemporary issues. Class members are typically parents with children (elementary through college). Class coordinator is Mark Hill.
Seekers Class – 11:00 in Room 203 This class is for parents with elementary-age children or younger and strives to build a solid faith-based foundation for growing family and community relationships. Primarily discussion oriented, the class considers topics that are biblically based, focusing on what scripture teaches, why God wants us to pay attention to it, and how it can enrich lives today. Social events and community service projects are planned throughout the year. Class coordinator is Ginger Craig.
Lake Brandt Campus
“Parents of Teens” small group discussion; meets periodically following the worship service at the Lake Brandt campus at 10:45 a.m.
