At the first Youth Open Door service, participants painted their hands and added their hand print to one of the 40 doors that created the walls around the worship space.

Youth Ministry

Westminster Youth Ministry invites all youth from all walks of life to come experience the love and grace of God in community with one another. Our program is designed for 6th-12th graders as they continue to be spiritually nurtured and challenged during this crucial developmental stage in their life. We have a team of leaders who are dedicated to walking beside youth and their families as we seek to live out being the community of God with one another through Bible Study, Worship, Fellowship, and Mission. We hope that all youth will truly feel welcome to come and be a part of all that is happening in the life of Westminster Youth Ministry!!

Youth explore their faith through education, outreach, and worship

Summer Activities Include:

Summer Sunday School will be viewing video segments of the “Joan of Arcadia." Each week we get a new “sighting” of God through the eyes of 16-year-old Joan, an average girl with average problems. God appears in the form of various people such as small children, teenage boys, elderly ladies, transients, passers by, etc. Joan is asked by God to perform tasks that often don’t appear to make sense, but by the end of the show, always end up positively improving a larger situation. We hope the questions we ask about how God operates in “Joan of Arcadia's” world will generate more questions and discussions of how God lives and moves in our world. The Lake Brandt class will meet from 9:30-10:30am. All the youth at Friendly Avenue will join together to this summer and will meet from 11:00am-noon in the Riser Room.  Our Sunday School will attend worship together on the first Sunday of each month.

Fall Activities have included ...

Sunday Night Fellowship is where youth deepen their faith on most Sunday evenings. There are four components we will focus on:  Fellowhip, Bible Study, Mission, and Worship

Open Door is a "for youth, by youth" worship service that happens at various times throughout the year. The scripture message is enhanced with videos and music by the Youth Band. The service gets its name from the doors that form a wall around the worship space.   Read more.

Youth Band is unauditioned musicians and singers who are mentored by volunteer adult musicians and members of the Music department. They provide music for the Open Door, the for-youth-by-youth worship service and other special services through the year.   They culminated their year with a concert that raised over $2600 for our missions program.  More than 21 musicians invested in Westminster's missions programs and provided a meaningful worship service.
