Out of the Garden

Out of the Garden Project is a food assistance program for families primarily in Guilford County.  OOTGP partners with parents, teachers, friends, and organizations to provide food and hope for every child!  They provide a bag of food, including two meals, for a family of four (6-7 lbs) each Friday at 50+ schools in Guilford County, and one in Forsyth County and one in Alamance County. Out of the Garden Project also provides 350 backpacks of food each week for the United Way of High Point.

OOTGP also has a Food Reclamation Initiative.  Lunch leftovers from local schools are used to provide evening meals to children at the Greensboro Recreation Centers and the new Caldcleugh Boys and Girls Club.  In addition to feeding hungry children, this initiative will keep nearly 300,000 pounds of food out of our landfill.

OOTGP Fresh Mobile Markets take place at high need GCS schools and Guilford County food deserts. Each location is served monthly, each FMM serves between 50 - 90 families, and each family receives between 50 – 70 pounds of food.  FMM recipients are referred to OOTGP by school social workers. For more details on this ministry or to sign up click here.
