Chancel Choir (Traditional: High School Students - Adults)
The Chancel Choir is a non-auditioned ensemble that sings at the traditional service on Sundays at 11am in the Friendly Avenue Sanctuary. It’s an intergenerational choir with singers ranging from high school students to retirees. Minimal music reading skills are helpful, but a commitment to weekly rehearsals is essential. Repertoire ranges from classical choral music to multicultural music. Singers may join the choir at any time.
Each year, the choir performs two major concerts with orchestra. During the season leading up to a choral concert, anyone interested in singing in the concert may join the choir for that portion of rehearsal.
The Chancel Choir is anchored by four section leaders—Meghan Dunham, soprano; Olga Tsipis, alto; Jonathan Ray, tenor; and Derek Gracey, bass. They bring wonderful singing experience to the ensemble and occasionally sing solo on Sunday morning.
Summer Choir, typically June-August, is an opportunity to join us each Sunday at 10am in the choir room. We will learn an anthem to be shared at the 11am traditional service. This is a fun, friendly, stress-free (and robe-free!) way to make music together.
