About the event
Emily McCollum, a local artist brought up in the Quaker tradition, is offering five works of art for a month-long gallery installation in the chapel. On December 1 at 5pm, we will gather for an hour to hear from her about the artwork and to spend some time in reflection together, both in silence and in conversation with one another. She’ll guide us through this process, so you don’t have to be an art expert (or even an amateur enthusiast) to participate.
Her artistic process involves many different layers of work, often with inspiration from poetry, journaling, and reflection with peers, so that the finished product often bears little resemblance to the original layer. Each painting is richly detailed and, we hope, may lead you to a sense of deeper wonder. If you can’t make it on December 1, we’ll have the gallery open during the week (Tuesday-Thursday, 12-1pm), so…
