His interests include creating all forms of artwork, playing music, mountain biking, kayaking, and spending time with his wife, Amy, and 2 kids.

Sam joined the staff in January of 2014 to fulfill the role of pastoring our youth and their families. Originally from Indiana, Sam and his wife Emily, who is from Minnesota, started their marriage and family there at Oswego Presbyterian Church; they have two daughters and a son. When not dreaming up youth group games, writing sermons, going to meetings, planning programming, yada yada yada, he’s chasing his kids around to sporting events and school activities and trying to spend as much time with his family as possible. He loves music, podcasts and audiobooks. Sam also participates in the local F3 (Fitness, Faith, and Fellowship) group, and pretends he’s still a kid; Emily is as tolerant as she is beautiful.

The Session

In the Presbyterian Church, each congregation is governed by elected leaders— elders and pastors who make up the Session. Each year, a nominating committee makes recommendations to the congregation for a new class of elders who will serve a three-year term. Shared leadership between pastors and lay leaders—both elected by the congregation—is an important part of our system of governance.

Each member of the Session serves on an Administrative or a Program Committee. They are organized by “Class,” indicating when a session member’s term will end.
