A Light

December 2

O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens! Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants,

You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies,

That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.

Psalm 8: 1-2 NKJV

In the past few years, I have volunteered with Vacation Bible School here at the church. The draw of working with young children was what initially sparked my interest but after hearing their interpretation of bible stories, I wanted to do more. Introducing Jesus and his work to kids builds the path for their future faith journeys, and I’m living proof. Growing up in the church, and attending VBS myself, I never realized how much of God’s word you can learn from silly games and songs; Skits put on by staff and other volunteers become an art and a gateway for these students to ask questions that many adults are still asking themselves. But the most important way these kids learn about God’s love is by seeing it move through others and be shone in their actions. This is still the way many learn about Christ. It is a chain reaction, leading others to follow your actions, placed in you from God. There is an importance in shining a light on the gifts God gives us and others.

Prayer:   Dear God, help us to open our eyes, finding ways we can fully embrace your love, and share it with others. Striving to be better for you, lead us; Help us to learn how we can be greater, how we can help others be greater. You are our light, our way, and our hope. Trusting in you always will lead us to a lifetime of happiness.  Amen.
