December 13
I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined to me and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth. Praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the Lord.
Psalm 40: 1-3 NKJV
I needed to downsize my home in upstate New York. My tenant was leaving and taxes were escalating. Both of my brothers-in-law had relocated to North Carolina and shared the financial advantages of such a move. My dear friend lived in Greensboro. I had worshipped with her at Westminster Presbyterian Church. She and her husband generously offered their home for me until I found a townhome.
How would it be possible to leave a son, my church family, and the sanctuary that had been built by my husband and family? I trembled and prayed for direction.
As a widow of 30 years I had my faith and knew I was not alone in this venture. The Lord provided me with family and friends to help me pack, prepare the house to sell and to drive me south on December 5th. God had heard my cries and comforted my fears.
I was astonished by the level of support from the Westminster Presbyterian Church family. Months prior to my move, the Intercessory Prayer Team and the Explorers of Faith Bible Study had been faithfully praying for me! Soon after my arrival, this lifelong Lutheran who has a passion for music was invited to “sing a new song” in the choir. My transition was also supported by the GPS for Deeper Living class which became a place for me to grow and make new friends.
I waited patiently and the Lord heard my cries!
I am ever so thankful!
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, during this Advent season we give thanks for the hope the Christ child brings in our anxious world. Amen.
