Finding the Wonder

December 10

“Wake up, you sleepy head city! Wake up, you sleepy head people!

King Glory is ready to enter.”

Psalm 24: 7—The Message

Where do you find the wonder?

A bright Harvest moon in a dark night sky?

Greetings from a loved one (including your pets) after you’ve been gone from home for 5 minutes, 5 hours or all day?

The warmth of a fire on a chilly evening?

A favorite food on Thanksgiving Day prepared just the way your Mom or Dad used to make it?

Watching your family fishing on the beach, for that matter, doing anything at the beach?

A quiet, gentle snowfall?

Reading a good book while curled up on your favorite chair?

Helping a neighbor bring in their groceries?

Watching a 2 year old pick up sticks and then share them with others?

A bluebird’s nest full of eggs in the spring?

Hearing everyone in the room at a voting place cheer for someone who votes for the first time?

Unexpectedly encountering a deer family, including Buck, Doe and Fawn, while on a morning walk?

Cheering for your team and occasionally for the opponent when they make a great play?

Sharing the Lord’s Supper with others?

Dedicating a newly built home to a family in Piedras Negras, Mexico or Greensboro,

Whatever makes your heart sing! Look for it, every day!

Prayer: Thank you God for the beauty and wonder we find in our world. Help us to recognize it when it comes and be grateful. Keep us always aware and searching. Amen.
