December 16
Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.
Psalm 63:3
As we approach the Advent season, I am drawn to Psalms, 63:3, which states “Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.”
This reminds me that all throughout the year, but in particular during the Advent season, we shall praise our loving and meaningful God.
I love the season of Advent. While hymns touch me often as much (or more) than a sermon, Advent allows me to sing some of my favorite hymns. I love “Oh Little Town of Bethlehem,” “Silent Night,” and “Joy to the World.” Each of these remind me of how I should always praise God because of his love and kindness. When I think that God should have cause to care for me, of all people, I know how unworthy I am. And I know, that no amount of praise I give Him, is close to enough. I sing that much louder, and with that much more passion. I know that His love for me is, as this Psalm states, better than life. We are so fortunate that he loves us, and chooses us to be his children. Ours is a great and loving God, and we are so blessed to have his love. I thank Him every day for all He does for me, and my family, and the entire creation. So here during the season of Advent, be ever mindful of our loving God, and use your lips, your voices, to sing and shout His holy praise.
